Application for Wayleave
Wayleave (Tumpang Lalu) refers to the legal permission or authorization granted to individuals, private companies, government agencies, or utility providers to use or access a route located on land owned by the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) or within the railway reserve area. This access is typically required for entry and exit movement or for the connection and extension of infrastructure works.

Right of way may be requested for various purposes, including:

  • Access to private land situated across or beyond the railway track;
  • Construction and maintenance of utilities such as electrical cables, water pipes, sewer lines, or fibre optic networks;
  • Construction of temporary or permanent roads for development projects;
  • and Pedestrian or vehicular crossings within the railway reserve area.

The types of way leave are as follows:

  • Permanent Access: Used continuously and requires a formal agreement along with an annual fee or rental charge;
  • Temporary Access: Granted for a specific duration, typically during a construction project; Temporary Access: Granted for a specific duration, typically during a construction project;
  • Utility Access: Dedicated routes for the installation and maintenance of utility infrastructure.
Legal and Management Aspects
  • Applications for right of way must be accompanied by technical documents, site plans, and a justification for the intended use.
  • RAC reserves the right to reject, defer, or impose specific conditions on any application to ensure railway operational safety and the protection of its assets.
